Albert Lucklum, 92, of Huron, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center at Woonsocket.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Military honors were conducted by the Huron Veterans Council. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to service on Tuesday at the Kuhler Funeral Home.

Albert W. Lucklum was born Dec. 21, 1930, to Joseph and Katie (Wagner) Lucklum in Huron. He was raised on a farm southwest of the town and left school early to become a farmhand for a few years. In this span of time, he met his wife, Eldora Reimer, and they shared thirteen loving years together before her unfortunate passing. He then moved on to the Bureau of Reclamation, working there as a surveyor (self-taught) geologist for a few decades before stepping away and doing what he has become well known for – repairing and selling televisions as the owner of Al’s Sales and Service for the majority of the rest of his life. 

He also had his life partner, Josetta “Jo” Schoultz, and he took in her seven children as his own.

Albert was a proud member of the United States Military, serving in the Korean War, and a dedicated father who spent his free time with his family. He was a jack of all trades and a very hard worker. He was also a skilled carpenter and handyman, adding onto his house over the years.

Albert is survived by his children, Wayne (Wanda) Lucklum, Wanda (Larry) Erickson and Bruce (Lynn) Lucklum; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Katie Lucklum; his wife, Eldora Lucklum; his life partner, Josetta Schoultz; his daughter, Yvonne Lucklum; and his four siblings.

Jason Price, 46, of Letcher, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in rural Letcher due to a motor vehicle accident. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 7, at Harvest Community Church in Mitchell. Visitation was Tuesday, June 6, at the church. Arrangements were by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Jason “Cheech” Mathew Price was born April 16, 1977, to Michael Sr. and Pamela (Cook) Price in Mountain Home, Idaho. He attended Douglas High School in Box Elder. After high school, Jason attended Dakota Wesleyan University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Jason worked at the Abbott House while in college. He then worked for Burlington United Methodist Family Services with youth, Haugbeck Homes assisting individuals with disabilities, and Aurora Plains Academy – a therapeutic treatment facility for youth. Most recently, Jason worked as a swine technician for Bluestem Family Farms managed by Pipestone Systems. Jason was a member of Celebrate Recovery and had been sober for over seven months.

Jason married Yolanda Price, and to this union, three children were born, Noah, Isayah, and Willa. Jason was blessed with his son, Myca, to his relationship with Kim Smith.

Jason was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and his dogs, Dogi and Sheba. Jason loved basketball and watching his kids in athletics.

Jason is survived by his children, Noah Price of Sioux Falls, Isayah and Willa Price, both of Alexandria, and Myca Smith of Mitchell; parents, Michael Sr. and Pamela Price of Keyser, W. Va.; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael “Juice” Price Jr.; paternal grandparents, Roy and Alma Price; and maternal grandparents, Rufus and Pearl Cook.

Marvin H. Jessen, 82, of Holabird, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Highmore Health, after a seven-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. 

Funeral service were Monday, June 12, at the Harrold School gym with Pastor Calvin Jones officiating. Burial followed at St. John’s Cemetery, Harrold. A prayer service was Sunday, June 11, at the gym.

Marvin Herman Jessen was born March 16, 1941, in Pierre to Herman and Paulina (Hieb) Jessen.  He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Harrold High School in 1960. While in school, he participated in track. He went on to farm and ranch his entire life, living in a 10-mile radius of where he grew up. 

On June 10, 1967, in Pierre, he married Mary Gaetze. To this union, five children were born. Marvin did custom silage cutting and custom trucking along with farming and ranching. He also worked at Highmore Livestock for a time. He always enjoyed working with cattle and was an avid reader.

Marvin and Sheldon Reding made an old Ford car into a race car, which they ran for a year in Pierre until he married and his priorities changed. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He taught his children and grandchildren how to hunt deer and the value of hard work. 

Marvin was a lifelong member of the Harrold United Methodist Church, served as a director for the S.D. Stockgrowers Association, the Highmore Farmers Union Oil Company/Midwest Co-op, the Hyde County FSA County Committee, and a 50-plus year member of Lily Lodge #62, Masonic Lodge in Harrold.  Marvin and his dad were awarded the South Dakota Soil and Moisture award in 1964. Marvin and Mary were awarded the Soil and Moisture award for Hyde County in 1989. 

Marvin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary of Holabird; children, James (Stacey) Jessen of Woonsocket, Julie (Jeremy) Thompson of Jefferson, Md., Jon (Janelle) Jessen of Ree Heights, and Steven (Tonja) Jessen of Harrold; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores (Roger) Husted of Harrold and Ruth (Harney) Hohrman of Ft. Pierre; brother, Ronald Jessen of Highmore; and a host of extended family and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan; his parents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
