Ione Buckley

Huron

Ione G. Buckley, 96, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket. 

Ione’s funeral service was held on Saturday, March 12, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Her burial followed at Riverside Cemetery. The visitation was held on Saturday morning.

Ione Geneva Buckley was born on March 17, 1925, in Ipswich to parents Ellis and Bessie (Wilcox) Allbee. She attended grade school in Faulk County and Huron. She graduated from Huron High School in 1942 and attended Northern State Teacher’s College, graduating in 1943. Ione was a teacher in rural Faulk County and Beadle County for three years. 

Ione married Duane Buckley in Huron on June 12, 1946. To this union, six children were born.

Ione was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Church Circle #1, Quiz Extention Club, Goodwilling Workers Club, and Huron Senior Center. She loved to garden, sew, read, and travel.

She is survived by her children, Duane “Mac” (Sharon) Buckley of Springfield, Mo., Gary Buckley of Huron, Larry Buckley of Brookings, and Beth Dwyer of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverley Allbee of Woonsocket; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane in 2001; daughter, Sherry Buckley; son, Bryce Buckley; five brothers, Leo, Lloyd, Maurice, Louis, and Glen Allbee; sister, Alice Cooper; two grandchildren, Jarrett Buckley and an infant granddaughter; and two sisters-in-law, Audrey Gulbranson and Lorna Morgan.

Harold Clarambeau

Ft. Pierre

Harold Edward Clarambeau, 84, of Ft. Pierre, passed away on March 5, 2022, at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre. 

Harold’s Celebration of Life will be held from 12-3 p.m. on March 19, at the Pat Duffy Community Center, Ft. Pierre. The service will include a luncheon, with a time of sharing to follow.

Harold Clarambeau was born Sept. 18, 1937, to Felix and Alice (Martel) Clarambeau, in Huron. He grew up in the Huron/Cavour area and attended the Miner Country School, south of Huron. He continued his education at the Vocational Technical School of Beloit, Wis. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Harold was in the Wisconsin National Guard and was called to active duty in Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Harold married Audrey Ronnfeldt on Dec. 24, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, and they had four sons. On May 22, 1982, Harold married Loree Landon (Hanson) and had one son. He was united in marriage to Norma “Lee” Snelson on Dec. 27, 1987, in Amarillo, Texas, and Lee brought one son to the family. Harold owned radiator shops in Huron in the 60s. He was President and ran Burning Brule in Chamberlain in the 70s. Harold worked as an Insurance Agent in various capacities from the 80s until he retired, owning an Insurance Brokerage business with Lee in Hermosa, until they retired and moved to Ft. Pierre in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting, traveling, gambling, and the dogs he has had through the years.

Harold is survived by his sons, Curtis (Jill) Clarambeau, Shane (Jody) Clarambeau, Bryce (Becky) Clarambeau, Troy Clarambeau, and Damon Clarambeau; stepson, Steve (Liz) Ranne; sister, Mary Kay Tschetter; sister-in-law, Lois Clarambeau; 31 nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Clarambeau; his parents; and seven siblings.

Donald “Kim” Wheeler, 74, of Piedmont, passed away Feb. 24, 2022, at the Rapid City Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in the Spirit of Faith Church, Woonsocket. Burial will be in Eventide Cemetery. Pastor John Anderson will officiate. Visitations will be held at the church on Thursday, March 3, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are being made by Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket.

Donald Kim Wheeler was born in Huron on March 2, 1947, to Donald and Lois (Byerly) Wheeler. Kim attended public school in Huron. At the age of 15, he started his path of millions of miles trucking across the country. In 1971, he married Shelley (Kotas), and they later welcomed two children, Justin and Casey. Kim spent many years farming, buying and trading cattle and owning the L-K Steakhouse and Lounge that he and Shelley bought in 1980. In 1984, Kim partnered with Darrel Reuer and purchased the Wessington Springs Livestock auction. Kim rounded out his career at 18-Wheeler Truck and Trailer in Rapid City until his retirement in 2013.

Kim enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren, helping them build puzzles, play cards and showing them his flip phone. He liked to spend his free time rotating t-birds, corvettes and pickups through his garage. He played pinochle, cribbage and Wednesday poker at the Barn. Kim also had the gift of gab.

Kim is survived by his children, Casey (Bud) Miller of Woonsocket and Justin (Becky) Wheeler of Peoria, Ariz.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Steve (Peggy) Wheeler of Muscatine, Iowa, and Tom Wheeler of Piedmont; special friend, Cheryl Kahle; best friend, Darrel (Margaret) Reuer; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lois Wheeler.
