Some community churches are exploring the option of starting a pilot Backpack Program for the Sanborn Central School at Forestburg.  What the Backpack Program does is supply food items for qualifying school age students to take home on weekends during the school year.
Students have breakfasts and noon lunch meals available at the school Monday through Friday during the school year. This program fills part of the nutrition needs for the weekends.
There will be a meeting for all who are interested on Friday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Artesian. Churches expressing interest in the program are Artesian First Lutheran, Artesian Catholic Church, Forestburg Lutheran Church and the Letcher Community Church.
Information has been received from the Mitchell Backpack Program and also the Feed South Dakota Program.  Please come with your ideas and suggestions. ALL ARE WELCOME!
