The Letcher Legion Auxiliary met in the community center on Monday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
President Sandi Ruml conducted the meeting. Chaplain Pat Nelson read the opening prayer. The flag salute and preamble were recited.
Roll call was taken. Present were: Shirley Ruml, Kathy Northrup, Sandi Ruml, Edith Moe, Cindy VanLaecken, Mary Luckett and special guest Theresa Maeschen, District 6 Auxiliary President. A small gift was presented to her.
Secretary Mary Luckett read the minutes from the December meeting. Treasurer Shirley Ruml gave the treasurer’s report.
In old business, discussion was held about the preparation for Santa’s visit on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. Sacks of goodies were given out to the children.
The Legion held their annual Turkey Bingo Night on Saturday evening, Dec. 15. The Auxiliary served a supper of barbecues and pie at 6:30 p.m. and bingo started at 8 p.m. In spite of snow and icy conditions, a good crowd turned out to eat and have the chance to win a turkey or bacon.
In new business, the Mid-Winter Conference will be held at Cedar Shore Resort Feb. 8-10. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Feb. 1 for the banquet on Friday night, Feb. 8. This is for all Legion and Auxiliary members present.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, there will be a noon luncheon for the ladies Auxiliary members and also a silent auction. The Legion Auxiliary National President, Peggy Thomas, will be there.
Our visit with the District President was very informative. She shared lots of ideas and information that we could use to help us cover obligations as a unit.
Pat Nelson read the closing prayer and President Sandi Ruml adjourned the meeting.
Cindy VanLaecken was hostess.
The next meeting will be Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. Jane Amick will be hostess.
