Emily Hansen of Letcher, a fourth year advertising design student at Northern State University, has been awarded a $550 scholarship from the South Dakota Retailers Association (SDRA). Hansen also received scholarships from the Association in 2010 and 2011.
Her parents, Doug and Holly Hansen, are the owners of Hansen Wheel and Wagon Shop in Letcher and are long-time SDRA members.
The South Dakota Retailers Association has awarded 13 scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year, in amounts ranging from $550 to $1,000.
The South Dakota Retailers Association Jerry Wheeler Scholarship Program provides financial support to individuals intending to pursue a career in retailing.  The program is named in honor of long-time Executive Director Jerry Wheeler, who started the scholarship program in 1991. Recipients are selected by a committee of retail business owners from throughout the state.  The scholarship program is funded through donations and memorials from the Association’s membership.
Applications for the 2014-2015 school year will be available in mid-December from the Association’s Web site at www.sdra.org.
