SCHLICHT CLEARS a hurdle during the Region 8 Junior Olympic meet in Aberdeen.

Rex Schlicht, a freshman at Woonsocket High School, has qualified for the National Junior Olympic Track and Field meet in Greensboro, N.C. at the end of July.
Rex competed at the South Dakota Junior Olympic meet in Aberdeen on June 8. He qualified for advancement to regionals in the 400-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash and the 1500-meter run.
The Region 8 Junior Olympic meet was held July 4-7. Rex placed within the top five in the 400-meter hurdles, which qualifies him for the national meet in North Carolina at the end of July. He also placed sixth in the 1500-meter run.
