The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 met on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. President Dawn Rassel led the opening ceremonies with Chaplain Judy Stenzel leading the opening prayer.
The minutes of the November meeting and the treasurer’s report were given and approved. A bill for the candy and materials for the Christmas stockings was presented and paid.
A newsletter from District 6 President Judy Winegar was read. The Mid-Winter Conference is scheduled for Feb. 12-14 in Huron.
Christmas stockings will be distributed to the veterans at the VA Medical Center on Dec. 10. Units are asked to bring larger sized flip-flops for the veterans. Units are also encouraged to bring personal items, such as small sized shampoos, conditioners and lotions, so the junior and senior members can assemble personal care kits for homeless veterans.
Membership is continuing to be ongoing. The unit needs to increase membership to continue to help the veterans. Eligible to join is a mother, wife, daughter, stepdaughter or granddaughter of a Legion member or deceased veteran.
Following the closing ceremonies, President Dawn adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be March 1, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Prairie View Care Center Apartments solarium.
Bingo helper and furnishing bars for December is Bobbi White, for January is Dawn Rassel, and for February is Karen Krueger. Cookies for PVCC Bingo in December will be furnished by Fran Peterson and Paula Linke, in January Marian Anderson and Vicki Miller will furnish, and furnishing them in February will be Linda Kilcoin and Dawn Rassel.
