Ten members of Bethany Lutheran Hope Circle met in the Sue Larson home on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Attending were Ruth Jensen, Jacki Aymar, Vicki Linke, Kim Hiemstra, JoAnn Schladweiler, Evelyn Mitzel, Jannet Larson, Vickie Hines and Barb Coulthard.
Following the meal and devotions by Sue, Vicki Linke called the meeting to order. Sue read the November minutes and gave the treasurer’s report. JoAnn Schladweiler gave the W/ELCA financial report.
Vicki announced that the annual meeting will be held on Jan. 17, 2016, following worship services.
The group discussed their Thrivent Choice Dollars and decided to give the total to the homeless vet program called HUD-VASH, which Crystal (Olinger) Wilkinson manages through the Sioux Falls Veteran’s Medical Center.
Vickie Hines announced that she delivered all of the remaining finished quilts and kits to Parker Transfer in Sioux Falls. She also read a few new guidelines for our quilts and kits from the Synod W/ELCA newsletter.
Candy trays will be assembled on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. for delivery on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Christmas Eve services will be held at the Methodist Church at 5 p.m.
Following the meeting, care baskets were assembled. Members took one or more to deliver as they left.
After the offering, the “Jar Fund” amount, which is collected throughout the year, was donated to the Church of Hope within the women’s prison in Pierre in honor of Rachel Cyriaks in the amount of $122.
Secret prayer sisters for 2015 were revealed with a Christmas gift exchange and new sisters drawn for the new year.
The next meeting will be on Feb. 11 at the Methodist Church with Vicki Linke and JoAnn Schladweiler as co-hostesses.
