The City of Artesian Council met on August 3, 2016, in regular session at the Artesian Community Center. Council Member Effling called the meeting to order with Council Members Richard and Danek, Finance Officer Steele and Tom Fridley present.
The minutes of the July 6, 2015, meeting were read. Motion to approve by Richard, seconded by Danek, motion carried. Motion by Richard, seconded by Danek, to approve the Financial Statement and approval of vouchers as presented by Steele. Motion carried. The following vouchers were presented for the month:
Monthly Disbursements, July 31, 2016:
USDA, Sanitation $717.68, Sanitation $398.32

Streets: Gravel and streets discussed.
Sewer/Garbage: Reviewed accounts receivable, and discussion was held on past due accounts. Discussion was held on getting a dumpster for non-metal materials. Motion to approve by Richard, seconded by Danek, to purchase a 75,000 BTU heater/furnace for the city of Artesian’s shop. Motion carried
New Business:
The Council Members reviewed insurance policy. Motion by Danek, seconded by Richard, to accept Insurance Store bill. Motion carried.
At 8:15 p.m., the City Council went into Executive Session. During this time, Liz Hoffman was hired as the new Finance Officer, to start immediately. Executive Session ended at 8:25 p.m.
The next meeting will be September 7, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at the Artesian Community Center.
There being no further business brought before the Council, motion to adjourn by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
