The Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were P. Larson, S. Larson, Blindauer, and Ohlrogge. Auditor Larson was also present. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to accept the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board. Goergen presented an approach permit from Scott Alexander for an approach on the west side of 395th Ave. Road #11 Sec. 19 in the NE/4 of Warren Township. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the permit. All ayes. Motion carried. Kogel presented the five-year county highway plan. County-wide meeting will be held on August 23 at 1:00 p.m. to present the plan.
PLAT APPROVAL
Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, presented two plats for Corey and Lisa Baruth. One was a Plat of Lot 1 Baruth Addition in Gov Lots 3-4, 5-108-62 consisting of 9.96 acres. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the plat. All ayes. Motion carried. One was for a Plat of Lot 1 Johnson Addition in NW/4 SW/4 105-107-62 consisting of 5.89 acres. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to approve the plat. All ayes. Motion carried.
Farris presented a list of proposed amendments made by the Planning and Zoning board for the Sanborn County Planning and Zoning Ordinance. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the proposed amendments. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to hire Liz Hoffman as part-time temporary help at $10.00 per hour to help Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, with reassessing property. All ayes. Motion carried.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to convene as a board of adjustment. Motion carried. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to approve a variance for Brian Pauly at Lots 22-24; Blk 50, Original Plat, Woonsocket. The variance is for building an accessory building closer than 10 feet from lot line. Chairman Ebersdorfer declared an end to the Board of Adjustment.
SUPPLEMENT BUDGET
Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to supplement the courthouse budget in the amount of $40,000 for repairs to the parking lot. All ayes. Motion carried.
