Highway patrol schedules sobriety checkpoints in January

PIERRE – South Dakota’s Highway Patrol will begin 2016 by conducting sobriety checkpoints in 18 counties during January.
Checkpoints are held each month in different counties. The checkpoints are designed to discourage motorists from drinking and then driving.
Sobriety checkpoints are planned for January in the counties of Bennett, Brown, Brule, Butte, Charles Mix, Clay, Codington, Day, Hughes, Jerauld, Lawrence, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Moody, Pennington, Roberts, Sanborn and  Walworth.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
