HURON – “Lost in Translation,” was the winning entry in Huron Regional Medical Center’s Quality Health Fair on June 16, according to Dennise Brock, RN, education coordinator for HRMC.
“I was so pleased with the interest and presentations,” said Brock. “You could see, hear and feel the passion behind each of these projects as the teams provided presentations.”
The winning project, “Lost in Translation,” was developed and presented by HRMC’s dialysis unit staff Vicki Diekhoff, Kelsey Hupp, Jan Smidt, Erin Krull, Velma Kneen, Yvonne McDonald and Director Cathy Perry. The project goals were to increase patient and family satisfaction through interpretation and translation while improving workflow, and communication. The team received a cash award of $1,000 for earning first place.
A total of 10 projects were submitted, some featuring  continuous quality improvement, aimed at enhancing service, safety and patient care. Projects were visually displayed for employees and the public to view. Second place was awarded to “Car Seat Program,” presented by Pam Poulisse, RN, and Jen Kahre, who work in HRMC’s maternity services.
Third place went to “Breastfeeding,” developed and presented by Teri Eichstadt, RN, a maternity nurse at HRMC.
Projects presentation boards are on display throughout the hospital and the public is invited and encouraged to stop by and view the information. For details, contact Brock at 353-6326.
