On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans came to Sanborn Central for a basketball double header. Both varsity girls and boys teams earned another win for the Blackhawks.
For the boys, Noah Dickson had a great night with 25 points to lead the scoring, along with nine rebounds and two steals. Trent Kingsbury also performed well earning a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Trey Weber rounded out the top scorers with 11 points to help the Blackhawks win the varsity boys game 63-54.
On the girls side of the night, the Lady Blackhawks were led by Megan Poyer with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Abby Vermeulen added eight points, and Madi Moody had seven points. Tesa Jensen helped out with four points and six rebounds, and Tristan Ziebart dished in five points and three assists. The final score for the Lady Blackhawks victory was 48-42.
Both teams will see their next action on the court in Woonsocket for the double header against Hitchcock/Tulare on Thursday, Dec. 29, starting at 1 p.m. with the girls junior high game followed by the boys junior high, girls JV, boys JV, girls varsity, and boys varsity.
