During the third quarter at Woonsocket School, twenty-five students earned forty or more AR points, enabling them to be able to attend Mr. Weber’s AR party. This quarter, students elected to have banana splits and/or ice cream sundaes for their special treat. Students were able to select from vanilla, chocolate, and/or strawberry ice cream, as well as a variety of toppings including whip cream, caramel and chocolate fudge, sprinkles, M&Ms, chocolate chips, bananas and double stuffed oreos.
Students gathered around the tables in the commons, enjoying their hard-earned award amongst their friends and classmates. Most of the students in attendance have been here before, but there were also some new faces in the crowd that had made the decision to push themselves a little further this quarter, and their dedication paid off.
As a librarian, I love seeing students accomplish goals that either they set for themselves, or that others set for them. As the quarterly requirement in seventh through 12th grade is only 20 AR points, students do need to go above and beyond each quarter in order to reach the 40+ point goal that is needed to attend Mr. Weber’s quarterly party.
