Sanborn County Commissioners proceedings

MARCH 20, 2018

Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding.  Other members present were: S. Larson, P. Larson, Ohlrogge, and Blindauer. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.

HIGHWAY

Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, met with the board. Goergen requested for the highway department to work four ten-hour days Monday through Thursday starting April 2nd. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the request. All ayes. Motion carried.

Goergen presented an approach permit request from Larry Van Overschelde for Road #32, North Side of 239th St ¼ mile East of 408th Ave. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the permit. All ayes. Motion carried.

REZONING

Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, met with the board. The second public hearing for the rezoning of Lots 13-24: Block 43 Woonsocket from Highway Commercial to Two Family Residential was held. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the rezoning.

A motion was made by S. Larson and seconded by Ohlrogge to hold the first reading of Ordinance #2018-01 Rezoning property legally described as Lots 13-24: Block 43 Woonsocket from Highway Commercial to Two Family Residential. All ayes. The second reading was set for April 3rd at 11:00 a.m.

Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to act as a Board of Adjustment.

Farris presented a variance request for the Spirit of Faith Church for Lots 15-24: Block 43 for a rear yard of not less than 10 feet. This would allow parking in front of the church. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the variance. All ayes. Motion carried.

Farris presented a variance request for the Woonsocket School District for a side yard of not less than 5 feet for the Elementary School Addition. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the variance. All ayes. Motion carried.

Farris presented a variance request for Wenton and Clint Wormstadt for placement of a cement bunk feedline to be placed 51 feet from the right of way at the location of NE1/4 less Lot A of W Wormstadt’s 1st Addition 13-108-60.  By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the variance. All ayes. Motion carried.

RELEASE OF OPTION

Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to release the option to purchase material, dated May 16, 1963, between Howard J. Bechen and Sanborn County, the Northwest Quarter of 12-105-60.  All ayes. Motion carried.
