Sanborn County Commissioners proceedings

October 2, 2018

Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: Ohlrogge, Blindauer, P. Larson, and S. Larson. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. 

HIGHWAY

Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board. Goergen presented an application for an approach permit from Chuck Peer for the south side of 223rd St Road #25 at approximately one-half mile east of North Main. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the permit.  All ayes.  Motion carried. Goergen presented a quote for extending the warranty on the 2013 front end loader. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to extend the warranty for 60 months or 1,000 hours in the amount of $3,730.00. All ayes.  Motion carried.

FILL DITCH 

Shawn and Kathy Peterson met with the board to discuss changing the construction of the ditch in front of their property Lots 5A & 5B in NW/4 30-106-62. Drainage issues will be researched and a decision will be made at a later date.

GRANT

Jason Coenen, Emergency Management, reported that he has applied and been granted a Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $6,035.33. Emergency Management budget will be supplemented for this amount.

TRANSFER REVENUE

Auditor Larson reported that the 24/7 program revenue is not what the budget projected. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to transfer $2,000 from contingency cash to 24/7 cash. All ayes. Motion carried.

SICK LEAVE

Much discussion was held on the policy which does not allow sick leave or vacation until you have been employed with the county for one year. It was decided to allow up to 40 hours of sick leave the first year of employment once the probationary period is met. After one year’s employment, regular time off will be granted. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to adopt this policy. All ayes. Motion carried.
