This year’s Willie Mac Basketball Tournament was held in Brookings March 23-25.

The tournament is sponsored by their Boys and Girls Club. They organize the tournament to promote a healthy lifestyle, good sportsmanship and teamwork for South Dakota’s youth.

The tournament is for any team in fourth grade through juniors in high school. The teams are put into divisions for boys and girls teams and broken down by their grade.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket sent several teams to the tournament from fifth grade through junior year in high school. All the teams that attended saw success, but two teams made it to the championship in their age divisions – the fifth grade boys and junior girls. They both earned second place as runners-up.
