The Lady Blackhawks volleyball team improved their record to 1-2 in a five-set thriller against Mitchell Christian on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Mitchell.
Set scores were 20-25, 14-25, 26-24, 25-21 and 15-7.
Marissa Weber led the team with 16 kills and 30 digs. Morgan Selland had eight kills and 27 digs, while Rachel Selland contributed 26 assists, five kills, five blocks and 26 digs. Savannah Swenson also added 26 digs.
Mitchell Christian was led by Cassidy Graham with two aces, seven kills and 19 digs, Emily Reynen with one ace, 11 kills and 14 digs, and Abbie Reynen with four aces and 10 kills. Emily Schrag chipped in 24 assists and three aces and Ellie Bleeker added six aces and 21 digs.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket and the Golden Eagles both played in the Custer Battlefield Highway Tournament in Kimball on Saturday.
