The Woonsocket Board of Education met in special session on May 20th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the library/media center of the Woonsocket School. Members attending were: Gary Steichen, Jason White, Darrin Uttecht, Todd Olinger and Jim Grassel. Also attending were Superintendent Rod Weber and Chris Selland. The purpose of the special meeting was to determine whether or not to sell a district-owned lot that the former daycare building sits on as per the request of the owner of the building. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
On a motion by Gary Steichen, seconded by Darrin Uttecht, the Board approved the meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Discussion ensued regarding the pros and cons of selling the lot.
Motion was made by Darrin Uttecht, with a second by Gary Steichen, to declare the lot surplus and salvage and to proceed with the sale of the lot. A roll call vote of the Board members was called for by Jason White with the following results: Darrin Uttecht – nay; Jim Grassel – aye; Todd Olinger – nay; Jason White – nay; and Gary Steichen – aye. Motion died for lack of a majority vote.
Motion was made by Todd Olinger, with a second by Jason White, to approve the State of South Dakota contract for providing health services for the Woonsocket School District 55-4. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the May 20, 2013 special meeting of the Woonsocket Board of Education was officially adjourned at 8:01 p.m. on a motion made by Gary Steichen with a second by Jason White. Motion carried.
