Glenn L. Larson, age 79, of rural Woonsocket, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.
Funeral services were Friday, April 18 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Mitchell, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Letcher. Visitation was Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Glenn L. Larson, son of John Levi and Charlotte (Dahle) Larson, was born Aug. 6, 1934 in Mitchell. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Letcher. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Letcher. Glenn then attended high school for four years at Canton Academy and one semester at Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn.
After his schooling, Glenn returned to the family farm and farmed with his father. Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Dec. 28, 1956 and was honorably discharged on March 4, 1960. He returned to the family farm and continued farming and raising his beloved Black Angus cattle. Glenn also worked doing custom farming, harvesting and construction. In 1989 he started working as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2001.
In his retirement, Glenn still enjoyed raising cattle. He also enjoyed following current events, politics and religion. Glenn was an avid reader and collected belt buckles and toy tractors.
Glenn was united in marriage with Juanita G. (Christensen) Schroeder on Dec. 13, 1997 in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Larson, rural Woonsocket; two step-daughters, Brenda Kay Schroeder, Madison, and Belinda (John) Yarrow, Anza, Calif.; three step-grandchildren; three nieces; and many great-nephews and nieces.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Thompson and her husband, Denton; and a great-niece, Laci Hattervig.
