The Blackhawk boys flew out of the locker room after halftime Thursday and created a solid lead in the third quarter, propelling them to a 69-48 victory over Mitchell Christian.
After finishing one half up just two points, the Hawks put down 28 points in the third quarter to gain a 16 point lead in the third quarter, from which the Golden Eagles were unable to recover.
Three players from Sanborn Central/Woonsocket earned double figures in scoring, while Tucker Kingsbury also recorded a double-double. Kingsbury had 15 points and 10 assists in the win, while Dillon Moore added 13 points and Brady Tiede, 11.
Josh Feiner led in rebounds with five of the team’s 18.
The Blackhawks committed just 11 turnovers and shot 54 percent on 54 chances from the field. They hit five-of-nine free throws and shared the ball well with 22 total assists.
The Golden Eagles were led by Majok Kur with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Mitchell Christian totaled 26 boards, 24 turnovers and just seven total assists. As a whole, their team shot 21-of-46 from the field for 46 percent and hit three of their four free throw attempts.
The Blackhawks recorded their 16th win of the season with just three losses to date. Their final regular season contest is Friday, Feb. 26 in Wessington Springs, before District play begins next week.
Mitchell Christian fell to 7-10 with the loss.
