Bailey Moody, who graduated from Sanborn Central High School last month, has earned a position on the South Dakota National High School rodeo team and will be traveling to Gillette, Wyo., July 17-23 to compete at the 68th annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR).
Moody finished as the Reserve Champion in pole bending at the state finals. She also received the Western Buckaroos Scholarship for $1,500 and a NHSRA scholarship for $1,000.
The NHSFR features more than 1,650 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian Provinces and Australia, and is the world’s largest rodeo. Contestants will compete for more than $200,000 in prizes and more than $350,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named an NHSFR World Champion.
Live broadcasts of each NHSFR performance will air online at NHSRATV.com and Saturday’s championship performance will be televised nationally as part of the Cinch Highschool Rodeo Tour telecast. Performance times are 7 p.m. on July 17 and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day thereafter.
