The Town of Artesian Council met on August 2, 2017, in regular session at the Artesian Community Center. Council Member K. Effling called the meeting to order with Council Member C. Danek, Council Member S. Richard, and Finance Officer G. Effling present. Also present was: T. Fridley.
The minutes of the July 5, 2017 meeting was read; motion to approve by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. Finance Officer Reports were read; motion to approve by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. The following vouchers were presented for the month:
SD Dept of Revenue – $168.43
USDA – $1,119.00
Xcel Energy – $1,110.80
US Treasury – $557.71
Artesian Fire Department – $125.00
Dawson Construction Inc. – $1,019.51
Gwen Effling – $511.65
Farmers Elevator – $110.75

Sanborn Weekly Journal – $24.64

Old Business:
Committee Reports: Streets – gravel & mowing – maintaining well.
Lagoon – looks good.
City sewer/garbage invoices – reviewed customers on delinquent list. DISCUSSION WAS HELD ON THE SMOKING OF THE SEWER LINES TO BEGIN AUGUST 8TH AND 9TH, STARTING AT 8:00 A.M. PLEASE READ THE FLYER THAT WAS DELIVERED TO TOWN RESIDENTS.
Discussion on the Xcel Energy street lighting project – not all lighting has been replaced, uncertain on a estimated completion date. The new lights are an improvement.
New Business:
Reviewed the updated insurance policy. 2018 CITY OF ARTESIAN BUDGET – First Reading – Ordinance #2018-01.
There being no further business brought before the council, meeting adjourned. The next regular meeting is scheduled for September 6, 2017, at the Community Center at 7:30 p.m.
