The Woonsocket Board of Education met in special session on June 28th, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. in the commons area of the Woonsocket School. The purpose of the special meeting was to approve budget supplements for the 2016-2017 school term. Members attending were: Jason White, Gary Steichen and Lisa Snedeker. Todd Olinger and Jodi Doering were absent. Others attending were Superintendent Rod Weber and Chris Selland. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m.
On a motion by Lisa Snedeker, seconded by Gary Steichen, the Board approved the meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Gary Steichen, with a second by Lisa Snedeker, to approve the 2016-2017 budget supplements as follows:
General Fund
From reserve fund/federal to:
Elementary Instruction $35,000.00.
Elementary Principal $1,000.00.
Executive Administration $18,500.00.
Special Programs (federal) $17,925.00.
Total General Fund Supplements: $72,425.00.
Capital Outlay Fund
From reserve fund to:
Fiscal Services $600.00.
Co-Curricular $1,500.00.
Debt Repayment $6,000.00 .
Total Capital Outlay Supplements: $8,100.00.
Special Education Fund
From reserve fund to:
Contracted Services/Testing $9,000.00.
Total Special Education Supplements: $9,000.00.
Debt Service Fund
From reserve fund to:
QZAB Bond payment $3,333.33.
Total Debt Service Fund Supplements: $3,333.33.
Enterprise #53 Fund (Pre-K/Driver Ed)
From reserve fund to:
Elementary Programs (Pre-K) $6,000.00.
Total Enterprise Fund #53 Supplements: $6,000.00.
Food Service Fund
From reserve fund to:
Salaries and Benefits $700.00.
Total Food Service Fund Supplements: $700.00.
Motion carried.
Motion was made to approve an operating transfer of $15,000.00 from the General Fund to Enterprise Fund #53 (Pre-K and Drivers Education) on a motion made by Lisa Snedeker, with a second by Gary Steichen. Motion carried. This transfer was necessary to cover expenses until the regular July annual transfer.
Motion was made by Gary Steichen, with a second by Lisa Snedeker, to approve an expense of $4,000.00 for G & R Controls (contracting with Evers Excavation) to test drill for the possibility of using geothermal for the new heating system. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the June 28th, 2017, special board meeting of the Woonsocket Board of Education was adjourned at 12:08 p.m. on a motion by Gary Steichen, with a second by Lisa Snedeker. Motion carried.
