The Woonsocket sixth grade class wrapped up the school year with an educational trip to the Black Hills.
The group started their travels with a stop to see the Native American monument titled ‘Dignity’ at Chamberlain. Next was the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs where they witnessed on-site digging and received a personalized lesson on sink holes. Finally, they closed out their day with a relaxing time in the natural spring water of Evans Plunge.
Day two started with some road travel to see the sites en route to the Rushmore Cave. The tour through the cave showed the group some beautiful stalactite formations. They also felt a rush while getting a beautiful view of the Hills on a Zip Line tour. On the way home, lunch and delicious cake donuts at Wall Drug completed the trip.
The class was taught by Rose Marie Delvaux. The group would like to thank the WEPC and many others who donated to their fundraising efforts.
