16U team attends Sioux Falls Invite

By Cory Mohling

June 28-30, the 16U teeners attended the Sioux Falls Invite. This was a 24-team tournament that consisted of teams from Lincoln, Neb., to Fargo, N.D. In the first game on Friday afternoon, Post 5548 played Mitchell and lost a close game, 9-8. On Saturday, they played Alexandria, Minn., and lost 6-3. In the third game for the boys, they played Watertown and lost another close game, 5-3. In the final game on Sunday, the boys played Lincoln, Neb., and the game ended in a tie, 6-6; because of the rules, no extra inning games were played unless it was the semi-finals or the championship. Overall, the boys went 0-3-1 over the weekend but played hard, in some unfavorable heat conditions. The teams they were playing were some of the best teams in the tri state area, and the Blackhawks competed with every team and had the lead in three out of the four games going into the last couple innings.
