Doris F. Benson, 88, of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Aug. 17, 2012 in the Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls,.
A private family memorial service is pending at this time.
Doris Faye Benson was born on May 13, 1924 in Minneota, Minn. to George L. and Dora (Holm) Benson. As a child her family lived in Allendorf, Iowa and also Garretson. Doris graduated from high school in Garretson and then followed her family to Spencer where she helped her father in the grain business.
In 1948 Doris was married to Don Jacauart. They lived and worked in Mitchell for many years.
She worked as the bookkeeper and office manager for Mitchell Concrete, G. H. Lindekugel & Sons and the Firesteel Heights Nursing Home in Mitchell. She also was a bookkeeper for Selland Cattle and even drove truck when needed.
Later she enjoyed managing Sylvan Lake, Legion Lake and Mystery Mountain Resorts in the Black Hills along with the Chute Rooster Steakhouse in Hill City.
She loved living for a few years at her cabin on Twin Lakes and later in life enjoyed living in Woonsocket. The last few months she lived at Rosewood Heights in Rock Rapids, Iowa and had great times with her niece and family in Rock Rapids.
Doris always loved the outdoors and was an accomplished golfer and bowler in her younger years. Fishing and the big pheasant hunts were enjoyed and she loved to read. Doris loved spending time with family and friends and would do anything to help someone in time of need. She was especially fond of young children.
She is survived by her brother, Roger (Norma) Benson of Tracy, Minn.; sister-in-law Donna Benson of Sioux Falls; and six nieces and nephews; Barbara (Dave) Foltz of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Gale (Mary Jo) Benson of Sioux Falls, Brad (Lisa) Benson of Salem, Scott (Wendy) Benson of Monticello, Utah, Julie (Keith) Rayman of Tracy, Minn., and Melissa (Brad) Anderson of Sioux Falls; cousins; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Dora Benson and her brother, Wallace Benson.
