Ilene Moody, 92, Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mitchell. Visitation was Tuesday evening with a Scripture service in the Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Ilene (Steckel) Moody was born April 7, 1920 at Mitchell to George and Bessie (Justra) Steckel. She graduated from Mitchell High School.
She married Charles Moody on Feb. 17, 1941 at Letcher. They made their home northeast of Letcher, where they were blessed with two daughters. They moved to Mitchell and later Ilene moved to Countryside Living and was a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell.
Ilene enjoyed crocheting, bingo and traveling. She was an active member of St. Scholastic Catholic Church in Letcher and later joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joanne (Gus) Nelson and Judy (Darrell) Olson all of Letcher; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Frances Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Florence Hanson; one brother, Albert Steckel; and one great-grandson, Ryley Peer.
