Kenneth R. Ames, 79, of Longmont, Colo. died July 27, 2012.
A family service will be held in Eventide Cemetery at Woonsocket, on Sept. 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
Ken was born July 10,1933 at Miller, to Charles and Sarah (Cox) Ames. He attended high school at Miller and joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years. During this time he had tours of duty in the Philippines, Japan and Korea, before his discharge in February of 1957 as a Staff Sergeant.
He married Norma Brown on Oct. 2, 1956 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Kenneth worked as an auto mechanic for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, serving in the color guard at the VFW and many other capacities.
Kenneth loved to visit with friends at the VFW and American Legion. He was a very generous and gregarious person who enjoyed fishing, camping, walking around Golden Ponds and Western movies.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, Longmont; two sons, Charles (Paula) Ames, Longmont, and John (Gay) Ames, Woonsocket; two daughters, Linda Ames, Loveland, Colo., and Connie (Doug) Richardson, Longmont; two brothers, David Ames and Steve (Bud) Ames; two sisters, Alice Baruth, Woonsocket, and Sally Schatz; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
