Richard “Dick” Meyer, 63, of Huron, died on Sunday, June 30, 2013, in the Prairie View Care Center at Woonsocket. His funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Riverview United Church at Huron with burial in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at Huron and military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation was Tuesday in the Welter Funeral Home at Huron.
Richard “Dick” Meyer was born to Paul and Ruby Meyer on July 26, 1949, at Huron. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1967. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. He farmed for a time and worked for Telelect and the railroad before working for Edney Distributing in Huron.
He married Carolyn Schied on Dec. 1, 1973, in the Riverview Methodist Church at Huron.
He attended the Riverview United Methodist Church at Huron. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Jorah.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Huron; one son, Cody (Ashley) Meyer of Billings, Mont.; daughter, Kristen (Sheldon) Schroeder of Huron; three brothers, Steve Meyer, of Huron, Randall (Liz) Meyer of Broomfield, Colo., Todd Meyer of Orlando, Fla.; one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rodney Meyer.
