Wilma M. Aulner, 94, Mitchell, formerly of Letcher, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Firesteel Healthcare Center, Mitchell.
Funeral services were Thursday, in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mitchell. Burial was in Butler Cemetery, Letcher. A prayer service was held Wednesday in Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
Wilma Mae Aulner, daughter of Irvine and Mary (Butcher) McGee, was born April 7, 1918 at McMinnville, Tenn.
She attended school in Hinders Country School at rural Letcher.
On Jan. 15, 1936 she married Bernard Vermeulen. They had six children. Bernard died on Sept. 23, 1971.
Wilma then married Otto Oehlerking, Jr. on Oct. 22, 1983. Otto died on Aug. 5, 1985.
Wilma married Albert Aulner on March 29, 1989. Albert died on May 15, 2004.
Wilma worked at Letcher Public School as a cook and enjoyed dancing.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Altar Society. She had also been a member of St. Scholastica’s Church and Altar Society.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Harry) Northrup, Letcher, Mary Jo (Terry) McGraw, Castle Rock, Colo., Dick (Myrna) Vermeulen, Sioux Falls, Ron (Lynette) Vermeulen, Mitchell, Gary (Maxine) Vermeulen, Casper, Wyo.; a daughter-in-law, DeeAnn Vermeulen, Rapid City; three sisters, Joyce (Don) Lucas, Reliance, Hazel Brinkman, Blain, Neb., and Delores (Bill) Bunde, Lyons; 26 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and her stepchildren and grandchildren from the families of Oehlerking and Aulner.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husbands, Bernard Vermeulen, Otto Oehlerking, Jr. and Albert Aulner; a son, Thomas; a granddaughter, Debora (Northrup) Moody; four brothers and one sister.
