The Artesian First Lutheran Church Women met at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 30 at the church. President Judy Wormstadt opened the meeting with devotions and Deanna Dean led the Bible study titled “Suffering and Endurance.”
A short business meeting was held. The last quilting session was March 12 and the group concentrated on making baby quilts and receiving blankets. In addition to the Circle members who were present to help quilt, the women welcomed Destiny and Ayla Moe, Samantha and Cassidy Dean and Kara Wormstadt. These young gals sewed and finished a quilt for the fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Moore.
Other projects planned and discussed included the bake sale on Saturday, April 4, and making a fleece blanket for our senior graduate.
The Spring Gathering for the Medary Women of the ELCA will be Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Toronto, and the cost to attend is $12. Please contact Judy Wormstadt to reserve a spot for this event. At the gathering there will be a special collection of yarn for the prison knitters and a silent auction.  If time permits, those who carpool that day will plan to visit Bev Morris at Brookings on the way home
Following the 6 p.m. church service on Saturday, March 21, Kathy Peterson was honored with a light supper and many cards and good wishes from the congregation.
The group rehearsed the skit “Parable of the Mouse” and the songs that they will be singing at Firesteel Health Care Center and at Countryside Living on Tuesday afternoon, April 7.
The meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer, singing the table blessing and lunch served by Jerolyn Dean.
