Harvey William Coulthard, 70, of Woonsocket died Sunday April 5, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church with Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Artesian, with military rites by the Woonsocket American Legion Post 29. Visitation will be Friday, April 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Harvey was born Aug. 7, 1944, to Theodore and Bessie (Scott) Coulthard. He was later joined by his sister, Jane.
He attended country schools in Sanborn and Miner counties and graduated from Artesian High School in 1962. He attended Glenview Congregational Church north of Fedora for all his childhood years.
He lived in the Artesian area, working for Leland (Ole) Olson, until he was drafted into the US Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam, operating a crane with the 34th Engineers, until 1968. He continued working for Ole following his time in the service.
Harvey married Barbara Stoley on Sept. 4, 1970. They made their home in Woonsocket, where they raised two children, Travis and Tara.
Throughout his adult life, he worked for Parker Implement, Artesian Pheasant Enterprises and Local Lumber & Supply. He also ran his own carpentry/construction business, Coulthard Construction, for many years.
Harvey was a volunteer firefighter with the Woonsocket Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed watching sports and attended many of the local sporting events. He spent a lot of time doing genealogy research and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandsons.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Travis, of Woonsocket; daughter, Tara (Ryan) Carter of Hot Springs; two grandsons; a sister, Jane (Daryl) and family of Laurel, Neb.; father- and mother-in-law, Harlan and Dolores Stoley, of Highmore; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Iverson and family of Sioux Falls, Jean Stoley and family of Gretna, Neb., Laura (Blaine) Bulas and family of Hastings, Neb., and Dona (Mike) Deal of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Bessie; step-mother, Frances; step‐sister, Daisy Hilgenberg; and sister- and brother-in-law, Carol and Chuck Geier.
