The Town of Artesian Council met on September 7, 2016, in regular session at the Artesian Community Center. Effling called the meeting to order with Council Members Danek and Richard, Tom Fridley and Temporary Finance Officer M. Ebersdorfer present. Visitor to meeting was Gwen Effling.
The minutes of the August 3, 2016, meetings were read; motion to be approved by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. Finance Officer reports were read; motion to approve by Richard, seconded by Danek, motion carried. The following vouchers were presented for the month:
Monthly Disbursements, August 31, 2016: USDA, Sanitation, $716.18, Sanitation $399.82

Lagoon: Reviewed Inspection. Discussed smoking of drain.
Streets:
Pool/Parks: Draining of lines.
Accounts Receivable: Discussed Sales Tax increase from 6 percent to 6.5 percent, City to pay June, July, August increase, and residents to be charged increase on September bill.
Old Business:
New Business: First reading of the 2017 Budget. Appropriations from Sanborn County in the sum of $30,000.00 will be requested with a motion from Danek, seconded by Richard. Motion carried. Motion by Richard, seconded by Danek, to accept resignation of Liz Hoffman as finance officer and hire Gwen Effling as Finance Officer. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be October 5, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at the Artesian Community Center. There being no further business brought before the Council, motion by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
