Betty L. (Collins) McClanahan, 84, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.
Memorial services were Wednesday, June 15 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Betty Lou Bowder was born to Joe and Bessie (Miller) Bowder on Dec. 23, 1931, in Huron.
She married Grant H. Collins on Jan. 4, 1948. They raised four sons on farms near Cavour, Alpena and Virgil, where they lived until his death in 1994. Betty was an active member of the Virgil United Methodist Church and served as the postmaster at the Virgil Post Office.
In September of 1995, she married Roger McClanahan. They lived on a farm near Virgil until ill health brought them to the home they had in Huron. He died in 2014.
Betty enjoyed being outdoors, listening to music and playing the organ and piano, teaching and painting ceramics, cake decorating and being with family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford (Anita) Collins of Sweden, Gary Collins of Tennessee, and Joe (Cindy) Collins of Lake Preston; a daugther-in-law, Mary Collins of Forestburg; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Joann Bloodgood of Huron and Cora Lee and Mollie, both of Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by both husbands and one son, Lyle D. Collins.
Arrangements were under the care of Welter Funeral Home of Huron.
