Irvine Tuttle, 100, of Letcher, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, in Weatherford, Texas.
Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial was held in Forest Hill Cemetery at Canton.
Irvine Merrill Tuttle was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Pequot, Minn., to George and Bessie (Merrill) Tuttle. He grew up near Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1935.
On Dec. 21, 1941, he married Mary Helland in Canton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. Irvine was a self-employed farmer and mechanic for many years and was also employed by Greene Oil Company in Fedora and Terry’s Propane in Letcher. Irvine had been living in Texas with his son for the past four and a half years.
Irvine is survived by his son, Melvin Tuttle and wife Kasey, of Springtown, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in January 2008; a brother; a sister; and four infants.
