James R. Goebel, 66, of Miranda, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in a farm accident near his home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Faulkton with Father Christopher Hughes presiding. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Faulkton. A wake service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the church with visitation one hour prior.
James Raymond Goebel was born Jan. 19, 1951, in Faulkton, to Ray and Kathleen (Greenan) Goebel. He attended country school and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1969. Following high school, Jim attended Northern State College, receiving a degree in business. He returned to the family farm and joined his father in all farm operations.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his buddies daily for coffee and never missing a holiday with his family. He was so proud of all of his nieces and nephews. Jim was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also served his community through various boards and organizations.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Mary (Jim) Sandness of Woonsocket and Agnes Goebel (Edward Stewart) of Huron; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Sandness (Gary Manuel), Amy (James) Hook and family, Steve (Amber) Sandness and family, Anne Sandness and children, and Joe (Anna) Sandness; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers in infancy.
