His funeral service will be Thursday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m., at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Visitation with the family present was Wednesday, March 7, at the Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service.

Dennis Lee Harmon, son of Julian and Ruth (Smith) Harmon, was born April 3, 1930, in Huron. He attended schools in Huron. He joined the U.S. Army and served near the end of World War II.

Dennis married Clara LeBeau on June 3, 1950, in Wichita, Kan. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Huron. They also lived in Minnesota and California, before returning to live once again in Huron in their later years.

Dennis owned and operated his own auto body shop for many years. Dennis and Clara loved to dress up in old-fashioned clothing and take road trips in their 1901 Oldsmobile that Dennis built. It was not uncommon to see the couple holding hands wherever they went.

Dennis is survived by his six children: Rod (Signe) Harmon of Huron, Renee (Larry) Reimer of Woonsocket, Pam (Dave) Ferguson of Huron, Russanne (Glen) Ellerton of Mitchell, Helen Ganske of Tea, and Dennis, Jr., (Bonnie) Harmon of St. Paul, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sister, Lauralee Slaughter of Sioux Falls; brother, Dean Harmon of North Branch, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, on March 7, 2017; his parents, Ruth and Ray Jobbins; his daughter, Ruth Elaine Harmon; grandson, Robert Dean Ganske in 1977; and brothers, Donald and Darrell Harmon.
