Dianna “Dani Rae” Burkel, 68, of Huron died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in SunQuest Healthcare Center.
A memorial was Oct. 3 in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Holland officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Dianna Rae Bauman was born Nov. 16, 1943, at Fergus Falls, Minn., to James and Harriet (Forbes) Bauman. She grew up in Huron where she attended school.
On July 19, 1961, she married Carl Burkel at Woonsocket. They lived in various places while he served in the Air Force.
Following his discharge they moved to Woonsocket and then to Huron in 1969. She worked at the Plains for 18 years.
Some of her hobbies included bowling, bingo, baking, shopping and taking trips to Florida.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Thomas (Dawn) of Alpena, Dawn (Kelup) Lechner of Aberdeen, Jody Delgado of Rapid City and James (Billie Jo) of Cavour; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Janet (Ron) Rust of Nemo; and a half-sister, Barbara (Bill) Young of Milwaukee, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Richard.
