Carl Anderson, 79, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 6 in the Prairie View Care Center at Woonsocket.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12 in St. Wilfrid Catholic Church, Woonsocket. A scripture service was held Monday evening, Feb. 11 in Basham Funeral Chapel, Woonsocket. Burial was in St. Wilfrid Catholic Cemetery, Woonsocket, with military rites by the Woonsocket American Legion Post 29.
Carl Andrew Anderson was born on July 1, 1933 in Woonsocket to Oscar and Mabel (Regynski) Anderson. He attended school in both Lane and Woonsocket.
He joined the US Air Force on Jan. 27, 1952 and was discharged on Jan. 26, 1956.
On June 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Vetter in St. Wilfrid Catholic Church at Woonsocket.
He farmed with Alex Vetter, did construction, worked as a chef and helped on the Don Olinger family farm.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his “brother” Al, watching football (he was a Packer fan) and spending time with his great-grandbabies.
He was a member of St. Wilfrid Catholic Church and the Woonsocket American Legion.
He is survived by one son, Brian Anderson of Huron; two daughters, Mary and her husband, Jim, and Barbara Anderson, both of Madison, Wis.; one sister, Mary Jean Sovis, Bloomington, Minn., and one brother, Al Foos, Woonsocket; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary; one son, Mark; one brother, Harry; one sister, Joanne; two nephews; and one niece.
