Calvin Neuharth, 94, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at Country View Estates Assisted Living in Huron.
His funeral service was Tuesday, July 19, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs with interment in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with a prayer service was Monday, July 18, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Calvin was born June 23, 1922, to Adam and Pauline (Schaefer) Neuharth in Alpena. He married Esther Kopfmann in Wessington Springs on Dec. 28, 1945. The couple moved to a farm seven miles northwest of Alpena, where he and Esther raised their four children.
In July 2011, Calvin moved from the farm to Country View Estates Assisted Living. He was a long-time, active member of The Gideons International and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs.
He is survived by his four children, Darrell (Dianna) Neuharth of Alpena, Michael (Roxanne) Neuharth of Eden Prairie, Minn., Stuart (Cindy) Neuharth of Alpena, and Teresa (Wayne) Schrader of Eden Prairie, Minn.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther in 2013; stepfather, Louis Neuharth; one brother, Reinhold Neuharth; two sisters, Leone Jenssen Parker and Ruth Jaeger; three stepbrothers, Emil, Adiel and Raymond; two stepsisters, Leah Bentz and Hilda Kopfmann; and a half-sister, Lillian Neuharth.
