Mark William Peterson, 53, of Woonsocket, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Memorial graveside services with military rites at Eventide Cemetery in Woonsocket will be held on Friday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m.
Mark was born on July 1, 1962, to Alfred and Dorothy Peterson in Wessington Springs, the youngest of seven children. He attended Lane and Woonsocket schools. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1983, where he served four years with assignments in the U.S. and Germany at the Berlin Wall as a guard.
After being honorably discharged in 1987, he returned to South Dakota. He then moved to Nevada for a number of years before returning to South Dakota, where he worked at various jobs in Woonsocket, Huron and Mitchell.
Mark is survived by five brothers, LeRoy (Myrna) of Woonsocket, Marvin (Kong) of Murrieta, Calif., Larry (Robin) of Pierre, Duane (Fran) of Woonsocket, and Rickey of Woonsocket; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maureen Revelle; one sister-in-law, Patricia Peterson; and many aunts and uncles.
