Mary “Mickie” Salisbury, 89, of Woonsocket and formerly of Wolsey, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Prairie View Healthcare Community in Woonsocket.
Her funeral service was Monday, May 2 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present was Sunday, May 1 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Mary Nell Paulger was born April 4, 1927, to Charles A. and Iva (Rutledge) Paulger in Inavale, Neb. They moved to Guide Rock, Neb., in 1935, and she graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1944. Mickie also attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Huron.
She married Robert (Bob) Salisbury on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, at the Presbyterian Church in Huron. They worked on their farm near Wolsey and raised five children. Mickie loved being on the farm and helping Bob with the fieldwork.
She was a member of The Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Circle in Wolsey for many years and was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mickie enjoyed fishing, playing cards and taking care of baby animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
Mickie is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise (Vernon) Kuper of Ree Heights; sons, Robert Salisbury, Jr., of Wolsey, and Kevan (Kary) Salisbury of Watertown; a daughter-in-law, Julia Salisbury; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen (John) Brooks of Cameron, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Paulger; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Salisbury, and Danny Salisbury; her parents; and brothers and sister, Casey (Opal) Paulger, Arthur Paulger, Shirley (Claire) Simpson and Charles A. Paulger Jr.
